Online Advertising

30 years ago, mass medias were only restricted to newspapers, radio channels and a little to TV channels. Through time internet presented to people worldwide. In early days it was only supposed to send text emails with those nostalgic dial up connections. Nobody was thinking that internet is going to be fast enough to send photos and videos!
Speed of internet was the main problem for developers, so they decided to make it fast enough to do works online, to build social networks and speed was to key to make it global. Among presenting scientific and fun content on internet, advertisers were eager to dominate this area too. When the number of websites grew and online users rose, advertising campaigns were visible there.
Online Marketing started by small banners on websites, advertising emails were sent in bulk and then was visible in text ads, and even videos on YouTube were means of advertising. There is a fact that says, whatever is popular on internet, has the ability to make money and advertise there!
A visitor means money. Considering this, day by day we could see websites which were trying to gain more visitors by different ways. Among these ways of advertising, most of them are not successful and faded during time.



Email Marketing
Email marketing was one the ways that was not successful, because you had to send emails to people who were not eager about receiving these emails. Many email systems know these as spam, and put it in the spam folder, because this is sent under obligation. When visitors were registering in a website, they asked for email, and after that the website sold the email list to these advertisers! This is against the privacy of users, and many dislike it. So this process is not popular nowadays.

Banner Advertising
I think the most proper way of advertising is through banners. Text and image banners put in the websites are popular, because they are fit in the design and don’t bother visitors. People, who like to know more, click on the ads. It is not an obligation to click on them or see them, or bother you in the email! Even most of the companies try to put ads, which are related to the content provided in website. This way it is more objective. To see an ad related to the content has more chance to be read by visitors.

Video Advertising
YouTube is advertising on its videos! When you want to watch videos, before they start, in some of the videos an ad is shown to visitor. Of course you can skip the ad after 5 seconds, but regarding the comments on internet and most of my friends, video advertising is not popular. People say it is a little annoying. It is not like banner ads, to stay in its own place, it will interrupt your video and you may be bothered by this.

Conclusion
There are many ways possible to advertize on internet, these were some of them, and as you read banner advertising is a user friendly way. So do not bother your visitors to register, or fill a form, or to do something they do not like to do. Instead try to advertise as your ads don’t bother them, and even make them eager to read your ads. Advertising on internet has its own strategies and tactics. Try to know the taste of your visitors and continue in the proper way, that way you success is guaranteed.
